Pollen, Mold & Dust allergies are triggered by airborne particles

  • Pollen, dust, and mold allergies are common allergic conditions.

Pollen allergy symptoms may include sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and throat irritation. In severe cases, pollen allergies can trigger asthma symptoms. Pollen seasons vary depending on the types of plants in a specific region. Spring is often associated with tree pollen, late spring to early summer with grass pollen, and late summer to fall with weed pollen.

Dust allergies are triggered by microscopic dust mites. Other indoor allergens are pet dander, mold spores, and cockroach droppings. Symptoms may include sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, coughing, asthma and skin rashes.

Mold allergies are triggered by airborne mold spores which thrive in damp environments. Symptoms may include sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and skin rashes. Mold allergies can also trigger asthma symptoms.

  • Allergy skin testing and sometimes allergy path testing tell us if you are sensitive to seasonal or perennial allergens. Answers will help us guide you to an allergen free life. Over the counter antihistamines and nasal sprays are mostly “Band-Aids.” We have better ways to desensitize you from allergies in an efficient and effective timeline.

  • Can pollen allergies be prevented?

While pollen exposure cannot be entirely avoided, we teach methods of prevention early on by discussing prenatal supplements, diet, and early infant feeding and skin care. Other ways to modify exposure such as keeping windows closed during peak pollen seasons, using air purifiers, and showering after outdoor activities can help.

Can air purifiers help with dust allergies?

Yes, high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters in air purifiers can help reduce airborne allergens, including dust mites and pet dander. Be sure to ask us how to get the most out of your HEPA filter.

    Can outdoor molds cause allergies?

Yes, both outdoor molds and those growing indoors, like black mold release spores into the air. Depending on your sensitivity, exposure can trigger allergic reactions ranging from mild to severe.
